During a period of distance learning we will be expecting all students within the class to still maintain the normal periods of the day only the times are slightly different. In regards my classes, we will begin each class in a Google Meet, where we will review old material, discuss the new material of the day, and troubleshoot any areas of concern or difficulty. Students are expected to be available for these meets as if they were attending school.
Assignments given during periods of distance learning will still be held to the same due dates and expectations as those given during brick and mortar instruction. We utilize the same platform (Google Classroom) to distribute classroom assignments whether we are virtually learning or directly learning in a face-to-face setting.
Morning Advisory (attendance) 8:00 - 8:03 AM
1st Block 8:00 - 9:00 AM
2nd Block 9:00 - 10:00 AM
3rd Block 10:00 - 11:00 AM
4th Block 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
If you are in need of extra assistance, I can be available for office hours from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. We will try to do these by appointment or if the class dictates the need so as to keep from having multiple classes in the same Office Hour.
I attempt to be as available as possible, especially during a period of distance learning. Please know that emails received after the normal school hour, may not be immediately returned. I make an effort to check emails at night, and respond as soon as possible. However, please know that I am not always on a computer or phone checking emails.
Grade updates are made by Monday morning. If an assignment is turned in late, it may not show up on Edustart immediately as the Google Classroom platform does not communicate directly with our Edustar Grading software. Grades need to be manually imported and updated, which can create a delay. Be sure to check on both platforms for missing assignments and if you do find a discrepancy, please know that you can always get in contact with me. If there is something that I've overlooked, I would like to be able to adjust it for you as soon as possible.
During our normal class periods we have used and should be familiar with the following tools:
Google Classroom (to include Google Tools: Sheets, Slides, Docs)
Kami
PearDeck
EdPuzzle
McGraw-Hill Online Platform with Connected
In the event that we move to a distance learning format we would still use the same tools listed above. In addition we may add:
Google Meet
Khan Academy
Screencastify
